“It has been a great experience and one I will definitely cherish.” Retired from the game, DJ LEX1 obviously still has the passion for deejaying.
Back in 97, experience began to grow on the grounds of Clear Channel Communications Hawaii. For 4 years, Lex1 grinded on KIKI I-94’s street team, soaking in as much of the music business as he could. In 2001, he finally got his big chance on air, hosting the saturday street party mix show. He then later became the new host of the weekly night show.
Lex1 then ventured off from radio to take on another art, Deejaying. “It’s just crazy how people react to music, especially if you drop in some off the wall type of track. If you get your programing together, you can really control the crowd.” He has managed to incorporate every type of genre in his sets. “I’ve always been a hip-hop head/ R&B type of person. But I’m all over house, dance, rock music as well. I’m comfortable crossing genres.” He has worked with many promoters on the island and has played in many popular venues such as The Living Room, W Hotel, Fashion 45, Paparazzi, & Apartm3nt. Lex1′s The Groove Lounge: Into Your Soul mix marks the first DJ in Hawaii to tour local night spots in support of a mix tape release.
Away from the night scene, this doesn’t stop Lex1 from his love for music. He may be ‘missing in action’ , but his Groove vibes still roam the world wide web.
